The Korg Pa800 Set is an armenian-scale synthesizer that comes with all the essentials to start composing your own music on your home computer. This instrument can be used by both beginner and professional musicians, featuring 8 voices, 8 multi-sampled 'Korg CDS' powered by the exclusive Korg Triton VSTi sound engine, 3 oscillators with FM synthesis, multi-mode filters with 4 high-pass/low-pass settings per voice, sequencer/pitch bend wheel and assignable knobs. Korg CDS is a technology that enables synthesizers and digital pianos to recreate the sound of a real grand piano. Using this technology, this instrument reproduces the rich and expressive sounds that only a real piano can produce. The multi-sampled waveforms that represent each key on the keyboard were recorded from real pianos, for example, grand piano samples were recorded from a 9' concert grand Yamaha C7 concert grand piano with an 8'4" (243 cm) soundboard. This sampling method gives the Korg Pa800 Set a unique and realistic sound. The Korg Pa800 Set provides an assortment of features to edit and manipulate sounds to fulfill any musical need. It comes with 2 oscillators, 1 sub oscillator, and 8 multi-layered voices. Each voice has its own filter to control the overall sound character: this allows each note to be modified individually and helps you create changes in tone and timbre that are difficult with monophonic instruments. The filter also makes it possible for you to play chords on one instrument by playing only one note at a time, as only the notes you play will be heard; other notes will fade out as you sustain your notes. The Korg Pa800 Set is capable of producing over 300 different sounds, ranging from acoustic instruments to bells, strings, synth leads, percussion and accompaniments. This instrument also comes with an arpeggiator that allows you to create even more complex melodies. The arpeggiator can tell the notes played on the keyboard to follow a sequence of up to 16 different steps, creating complex cadences and harmonies unlike any other synthesizer/piano on the market. The sequencer allows you to record 8-track polyphonic melodies with up to 16 steps per track; it can also be used as a MIDI recorder/controller that sends out MIDI data for use in your digital sequencers or studios. This product is one of the heaviest synthesizers available. The reason for this weight is due to the rather large keyboard, the multiple oscillators and filters, and the correspondingly large waveforms that are loaded onto each sample on 5 tracks. This product has very few quirks, but there are some problems that do exist. The first problem is that some of the polyphony is limited on some sounds; while you can get away with playing only 1 note at a time, you will not be able to play chords or sustain notes indefinitely.
